JPopJapan.com is now live!

After 2 false starts using 2 different PHP packages I decided to flex my programming muscles and build the exact site I wanted in Ruby on Rails.

It’s launched in beta, which basically means I’m working behind the scenes to improve the site and if something goes wrong I’d really appreciate any feedback you can give me. Even if you think something looks bad or have a cool feature idea I would love to know!

So if you’re interested in Japanese music come visit JPop Japan. Share and vote for your favorite articles and voice your opinion. I hope to see you there!

YUI

YUI is another of my favourite Japanese musicians. She’s very talented; playing the guitar and piano as well as having a great voice. She’s also cute! Read on…

Asian Kung-Fu Generation

Asian Kung-Fu Generation (アジアン・カンフー・ジェネレーション), or “Ajikan” (アジカン) for short, were the first Japanese rock band I came across in my search for Japanese music. My favourite songs are 君という花 (“Kimi to iu Hana” / “a flower named after you”) and アンダースタンド (“Andāsutando” / “Understand”). The title of the latter is amusing because, well, I don’t understand any of the lyrics yet! However I can appreciate good rock music and they are one of my top 5 favourite bands. Read on…
