Today I jokingly challenged Jamaipanese to the following on Twitter:

Last one to complete the Katakana course has to eat Natto

...and he accepted! Oh crap! Well, I'm a man of my word, so it looks like it's on!

The only rule is to do it in Long Term Learning mode, which means we are restricted to a certain number of katakana a day, but we benefit by learning at a sensible pace. The winner will most likely be decided by the amount of errors we make, since it will delay our progress, and by any real-life interruptions.

Once we get level on 32% of the course we will start. Let the battle begin! ^^

Don't they look delicious....

I'm rooting for both of you, cause I am tickled that the Gaunt-let *ahem* has been thrown down. Someone's gonna eat natto. If that's not proper motivation, I don't know what is! Ganbare, guys.

Anything to stay motivated! What happens if you both realise though that you really like Natto? It will no longer have that same "stick" effect. Who knows? It might even become a "carrot". I really want to see how this ends.

Haha. Perhaps Deas and I should have some sort of Kanji contest ^^;

Loser has to eat shirako!

Deas said on Wed 2009/02/25 23:53 JST:
Forget that! The loser has to eat DRAGON CLAWS.

Oooh ok, last one to learn JAPANESE has to eat those freaky dragon claws ;)

Deas said on Thu 2009/02/26 03:24 JST:
Ha ha. They are sure freaky, huh? I dunno. Do you think they'd be better or worse / more or less adventurous than shirako? I mean, shirako is gross and all, but it's basically like eating roe...just different. Right? It's just male caviar. Or something.

Chris Gaunt said on Thu 2009/02/26 03:27 JST:
URGGHHHH! I hadn't seen shirako. I'm willing to try most things.. but that is just wrong! A very good incentive to not lose a challenge lol...

Mike said on Thu 2009/02/26 04:37 JST:
Yup. Shirako is the delightful delicacy of fish sperm sack chock fulla sperm! Yum. Seriously though, you're Japanese is really good Deas! Chinpunkanpun!? I think I heard that once before, but have never used it! I almost feel a little embarrassed as you@ve come this far in about half the time it's taken me!
