I know I said there will be less personal articles and more Japanese articles, but I wanted to share with you photos of the awesome Valentine's lunch my girlfriend made. It was a great day and it was really warm, almost like summer! That reminds me, I have to tell my family in the UK how warm it was and then point and laugh at the fact it's dark and cold there still. I'm so mean.

First we had prawns and avocado (my favorite!) and rice with chicken, tomato and mushrooms. I'm not sure what else was in it, but it was delicious! The prawns were enormous, I was in heaven!

You can see the flowers I bought her. I managed to buy them at a local shop and mostly spoke in Japanese! I impressed myself that I could get through it ok. The lady in the shop said something about Japanese people and chocolates but I didn't quite understand the full sentence so just nodded politely. I know the tradition is for the women to give chocolates on Valentine's Day and the guys do similar on White Day, but to hell with tradition, it's Valentine's Day so I'm gonna buy my girlfriend flowers! ^^

There was also chocolate cake! Looks good and tasted good! I even got two pieces *om nom nom nom*

Oh man, that food look so good. I love white rice with chicken :-D. Also; White Day? Never heard or it. Guess it's something Japanese.

Yeah, Valentine's day here is when the girls give chocolates to the guys. White Day is on March 14th when guys give gifts back to the girls (not the chocolates, new gifts ^^). Just another big day for the stores!

Yummy!
Did you receive any chocolates?

Chris Gaunt said on Wed 2009/02/18 18:06 JST:
Nope, well the cake was chocolate so I guess that counts :)
Got a lovely card too.

Wasn't the weather great (in kind of a creepy way)?...When I lived in California, I learned to call that kind of freakishly warm weather in the middle of winter "Earthquake Weather," because it was famous for preceding significant quakes. Wouldn't you know, we actually DID have an earthquake this morning down here in the Kansai backwoods! ;)

Looks like a lovely lunch you had, there! Nice!

Yeah it was very strange weather. Definitely don't get that in the UK ^^
I've felt about 3 quakes so far, the first one was the strongest, or maybe I'm just getting used to it.
