My future in Japan

So these past few days I have been thinking long and hard about my future in Japan. Thank you all for your comments on my last article. I have sent my resume out to a few select English schools and met some very interesting people in the IT field. I was torn between doing IT or teaching but I've now realized I can combine the both.

So after a lot of thought I'm applying for jobs teaching kids. I think it would be an amazing experience and I hope once I'm settled into the job I can then bring in some of my IT experience and help in some way.

I'll continue to pursue my personal IT projects and stay in touch with the awesome IT crowd here in Tokyo. Maybe after my teaching contract has ended and if I'm looking for a change there might be something available for me.

There's a good chance I will enjoy teaching kids far too much to leave, but we'll see what happens. That is, if I can get a job!

Sounds like a good choice: stable income stream plus free time to work on your own stuff. Good luck!

I think you'll have a great time and you'll definitely grow as a person. I hope you get the job!

Actually, since there's so many gaijin bloggers in Tokyo, you do have a great opportunity to start a business together. Everyone outside of Japan are still missing out on too many things ^^

Thanks for the well-wishes. I had an interview today, just have to see if I get called back for the second one.

Teaching kids is the funnest thing to do besides sex and rollercoasters!! Elementary students are the best. Refreshingly honest and loads of energy!!
