8 random facts about me
I thought the 8 facts meme would be a good way to introduce myself and for me to get to know others within the Japan-related blog community.
Apparently, these are the rules:
- People who are tagged need to write a post containing 8 random facts about themselves.
- At the end of the post you should name several other bloggers to be tagged.
- Leave a comment for the bloggers and link to your own post.
So here are 8 random facts about me:
- I develop web and mobile applications for a living. I am very interested in user interface design and human-computer interaction. I'm currently working with Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework but I also work with PHP.
- I cycle to work every day. I keep (mostly) fit and I get to really appreciate the changing seasons. I often get attacked by a goose I've nicknamed "Clever Girl" after a certain velociraptor scene in Jurrasic Park. She/he is possibly a ninja.
- I love movies. I can't get enough of them. My all-time favourites are Labyrinth, Groundhog Day, Lost in Translation, Spirited Away, Ghostbusters and Aliens. I also watch a few TV series but tend to avoid the usual rubbish that is on TV. My favourites series are Scrubs, The Flight of the Conchords, Firefly, Heroes and The Sopranos. I could also watch Nature documentaries all day long if I had the time.
- I like to read but often lack the time/focus to keep going and end up with half read books everywhere. My favourite books so far, that I've managed to finish, are The Hobbit, Space Wolf the First Omnibus and The Dark Tower. I also enjoy a good graphic novel, my favourite series being The Walking Dead and Crimson.
- I support Liverpool FC. I've supported them since I can remember. I like to play Fantasy Football and hope to beat my brother next season!
- I turned 26 in January. I have 1 brother who is 2 years younger than me.
- I recently switched to Mac OS X. I was previously a Windows man, but since I have less time for gaming I decided to buy an iMac. I've found the Mac to be a lot more welcoming to the Ruby on Rails developer as well as just looking better and being more user-friendly. However, I still use Windows at work.
- I love Japan. Obvious one here. I first visited Japan in May this year with a group of random people on an organised tour. It was my first time abroad on my own and I was more than a little anxious. However, it turned out to be the best holiday I've ever had and my tour buddies made it even better! I'm going back for another two weeks with a friend from the tour in September.
I don't personally know anyone with a Japanese-related blog, but here's a list of 4 people in no particular order who I think write interesting and fun articles:

Liverpool are always a joy to watch, especially when Crouch is playing. That guy became my footballing hero for proving his critics wrong.
Thanks for the tag. I'll post a list of my own soon.

I'll try and post my list tonight, but I don't really know who to tag!

I look forward to reading them!
@Nick - He's a legend, I wish he got to play more often for Liverpool.

Hi Chris,
Just Stumbled Upon your site and thought I'd say hi on account of it being strangely familiar. I'm a massive LFC fan, big Japanphile due primarily to my Japanese girlfriend, a web developer during the day and a Mac OSX user by night. Oh yeah and my names Chris. This is almost like stumbling across my own website ;-) !
Any way, being a big LFC fan, I run a website dedicated to LFC fans in London http://www.lfclondon.co.uk. Check it out and if you're ever down this way on match day, drop into the forum.

Hi Chris, wow... we have a lot in common :) It's great that StumbleUpon brought you here. I like the LFC London site, I'll definitely pop in and say hi if I'm down that way for a match.
