Japanese Study: Day 19 - 25

At the end of this week I received a package from our friends at J-List! It contains all sorts of things to help study Japanese and I will be posting reviews/highlights of each item soon.
At Mirai Inc we're working on a very exciting new project and I spent most of my time working on it. I think it's going to be great, but it took up most of my time this week, so study was put to one side.
I'm now carrying my "Japanese For Everyone" book with me everywhere I go so I can pick it up and study whenever I get a spare moment. I'm also writing all over the thing. Before that I was writing on a small pad which became a real pain, especially on a cramped train.
I never got around to turning my smart.fm vocab list all into kana. The reason is it's already becoming quite a burden to maintain. So I'm now making smaller sets on certain topics. I'm also keeping the kanji and adding related sentences. I think this will work much better for studying and will keep everything manageable.
I hope to get more time to add some cool features to this site. I'm slowly working towards opening it up for everyone to keep their own notes. I hope we can build a thriving community here to help each other learn and keep it fun!

I am learning Japanese too ... do you think "Japanese For Everyone" is really working ? Because I read that Danny Choo was also using that book.
If so .. I want to order from Amazon, because I can't find it here in Jakarta .. :(

Danny was the one who suggested I get it. It's working ok for me right now, but it took me 3 attempts to get into it. Having increased my kana reading speed and learned some extra vocabulary I find it a bit easier to get through the book so far.

I also picked up the book upon reading Danny's usage. I've been slowly going through it, but I've found myself just looking through a grammar dictionary and using that to learn.

My Japanese study has also been non-existant this past week (or more...). I've been busy at work too, and focusing on my fitness and health after work. I'm hopefully eventually going to get a balance where I can exercise, study and have some fun.

I guess I, and other full time students, have some sort of advantage when it comes to learning Japanese. Well atleast for now, because we're in a group environment with encouragement and peers to work with.
That is until, for me atleast, I graduate from high school at the end of this year. Where it will be either continue it through into tertiary education or take a different course and learn it by myself, which I think would be a hassle.
The only resource, by only I mean not rediculously overpriced (almost double retail!), I can get text books from are online. So I don't think I have alot of things to work from.
