Just a note to let anyone visiting this site looking for information on my Firefox Fancy Numbered Tabs extension know that I have updated it for Firefox 3 and it’s awaiting moderation by the Mozilla team. Unfortunately they seem to be taking quite a while.
In the meantime you can download it here. Firefox will prompt you whether or not you wish to install software from this site.

Hi! こんにちは!
I use your Fancy Numbered Tabs v1.2 with “Whitehart” theme.
Whitehart Themes
http://dongato.dyndns.org/whitehart/
with this theme, number image is not in the right place.

(there is no problem on firefox 2.0.0.x)
I hope you fix it

At this time I can only support the default theme. I hope it might be possible to support multiple themes but it would take a lot of customising for each theme. It’s something I need to investigate when I get some spare time.
Fixing it for your theme might just be a case of editing the PNG files or the CSS. Feel free to take a look at the source and modify it for your theme.

Hi Chris, I was wondering if you might consider publishing a 3.0-compatible version of the extension on your own website while waiting for Mozilla to come around? Thanks for writing such a seamless and useful extension, it’s one of the extensions I miss most at the moment.

Can you put more numbers?… I allways have more than 8 tabs open and the rest stay normal.
thanks.. and sorry my english.

Hi Germán, the CTRL+[1-9] shortcut only goes to tabs 1 - 8. With 9 going to the very last tab open. This extension was made only to help with the shortcut, that is why it is only useful for the 8 tabs to be numbered.
I did take a look at how to do this and I’m unsure how I could do it without having to create an image for every single number…

Hi, thanks for creating this great extension
, I just have one problem. When I have Fancy Numbered Tabs v1.2 installed (on FF3.0), Firefox doesn’t warn me when I close multiple tabs, even though I have it ticked in options. This happens with all other extensions disabled using the default theme.
Also, Tab Mix Plus dev build 0.3.6.1.080416 may fix hirose31’s problem:
When using Azerty III theme and either FNT or TMP, the close buttons are not in the correct position, but using both together fixes this.

Hi evad, thanks for the feedback.
I tried it quickly here (Windows XP/FF3.0) and I get the warning… very odd. I’ll see if I can emulate the problem when I get some time.

Hi Chris, don’t worry about the problem I was having - it was Firefox, not Fancy Numbered Tabs.
It seems I somehow (accidentally) set browser.warnOnQuit to false (in about:config), but couldn’t see this as there’s no setting for it tools->options. Thankfully, a google search brought up some help

Thanks for letting me know.

hi, I installed this addon on my 2 firefox 3.
It works well on Windows XP but quite bad on linux Kubuntu 8.04
In fact, the 4 icons are displayed side by side on all the tabs.

All I can say is this is a very useful addon. I love the idea that the number of each tab appears on the tab itself and after hovering the number changes to the close tab button. keep up the good work. HOWEVER Is it possible to have the numbers go on continuously counting all open tabs after number 8. Maybe the numbering can go up to maybe 30 or even 50?? please develop such an addon for Firefox. I understand the reason that you made the numbering up to 8 - it was for the keyboard shortcut purpose. Other extensions with that functionality, do not make the tab count on the tab itself. Your way is very crafty and neat and some of us (like me) have a whole lot of tabs open at one time, therefore its sometimes necessary to know how many tabs we got open. it maybe can be made as an option in this extension or maybe an entirely new addon. Thanks in advance i hope you like my idea.

Hi Elijah,
Thanks
I would like to number the other buttons but to do that I would need to make an image for each number and an entry in the CSS for each tab. If I get time I may look at doing this in a more dynamic way.

Thanks for your speedy response. And thanks for giving my idea some thought. I hope you get some free time and it works out properly when you try it :_)

Hi,
Can you help with this issue: I cannot get the numbers to display on the tabs. I am sure there is a conflict with some other addon, but I cannot find which it is.
Ctl # selects the tabs as it should, even tho I cannot see the number of the tab.
Close tab X is on each tab though I do not have the TAB X addon and the X shows momentarily when I hover over the right edge of the tab.
Everything works well on VISTA, but not on my WINDOWS XP.
Can you assist with some advice when you have a moment of time?
With thanks,
Richard
PS I should tell you that your work is much appreciated. The NUMBER TABS is very handy but as some other users have suggested, it would be nice if we could go higher than just 8.
