I have a confession. I’ve been slacking. I memorised the Kana at the end of last week and since then I’ve only done about 2 hours of reviewing Kana. I should be moving on to the Kanji. I’m still immersing myself in Japanese but not as much as I could. Don’t even get me started on my writing practice…
It’s not like I need any more motivation to keep learning, but I decided a change was in order. I initially thought of logging all my lessons on my blog, but felt it would fill it with rather short uninteresting posts. So I decided to use Twitter, but that too was a problem because I didn’t want to spam my friends.
So that’s when I looked elsewhere and found Plurk.com! I think it’s the perfect tool for keeping a lesson diary because it shows all your plurks on a timeline. So it should be obvious when I’m slacking or if I’ve missed a lesson. It will also be nice to go back and look at my lessons and achievements this way. The more I post the more karma points I get and the more the site opens up to me. So there’s a little added motivation to keep plurking and keep learning.
There are a few features of Plurk that I think make it the better tool to use for a lesson diary, they are:
- A timeline of messages
- Image & video embedding
- Ability to edit messages
If you want to follow me and join in the fun I’ll be plurking at http://www.plurk.com/user/chrisgaunt
I also twitter about my blog and other Japanese topics at http://twitter.com/chrisgaunt

It’s probably a good thing it’s down right now because all I’d have to plurk about is the fact I’ve not done any Japanese all week! Gotta get back into the routine tomorrow!
